Concrete flooring, refined over 25 years.

Diagrind was started by David Ian Ausburn after he went out on his own in 2000, concentrating on concrete flooring.

In 2007, he registered Diagrind Pty Ltd to have a name people could use rather than "David Ausburn Contractor." This worked well, as different contractors working for Australian and multinational companies used our services in major shopping centres for store refurbishments.

Diagrind did the polished floors in PW1 in 2009–10 (where The Taste and many other major events are held), as well as a lot of shipyards and other larger commercial works over the years.

Diagrind not only does bigger floor works but smaller domestic jobs as well, including a lot of refurbishments and new house builds.

Terrazzo even comes under concrete flooring, as it is high-strength concrete. We do old and new terrazzo floors (the Lands Building Hobart foyer is a good example), with David coming up with a formula to complete new floors in days rather than weeks, as it used to take in years gone by.

Over the years, money made was invested in machinery — starting with ride-on floor scrapers, then a crane truck, larger three-phase grinders, vacuums, a three-phase generator, and associated equipment.

With nephews in NSW and FNQ starting in the industry over the years, David let them use his brand, as they recognised that Diagrind was well respected in the flooring industry. This helped them gain recognition rather than having to build a reputation from scratch, while keeping it a family business.
